Honeymoon in Mauritius

I have just returned from a blissful long awaited two week honeymoon staying at the stunning Trou Aux Biches Beachcomber Resort and Spa in Mauritius.

We stayed in a beachfront suite with pool on an all-inclusive basis.

From the moment we arrived at the hotel we were looked after with impeccable service.  We sat on comfy chairs in reception whilst checking in and were brought cold flannels and cocktails whilst we waited.  The moment we entered our room we were wowed; our room was huge with a massive bathroom and an extra outdoor shower!  We had a lovely big terrace with table and chairs, sunbeds and our very own plunge pool – which was bigger than we thought it would be.  We were steps away from the beach and more importantly even fewer steps to the beach bar.

The hotel lived up to every expectation and the restaurants and food were amazing with plenty of choice.  The main Oasis Bar served lovely cocktails; there was a great lunch menu (the pizzas were great) which was a great alternative to the main buffet restaurant.  There were á la carte restaurants to choose from for dinner too.

The beach was beautiful with lovely soft white sand, plenty of sunbeds and stunning sunsets.

We had plenty of days out. We visited the south of the island taking in Black River Gorges National Park, the coloured earth at Chamarel and Chamarel Rum Distillery.  We also visited Pamplemousses Botanical Gardens and the capital Port Louis, Grand Baie.  We took a speedboat to Ile Aux Cerfs where we stopped for snorkelling and visited a disused lighthouse, seeing many of the monkeys that live on the island.  We also explored the ocean on a sub scooter which for me was terrifying but amazing at the same time…I even managed to feed the fish.  Probably my favourite experience was the sunset boat cruise from our hotel; the sunsets are just beautiful!

The hotel staff truly treated us like royalty, nothing was too much trouble and they were all so happy and friendly.  We had so many treats brought to our room; sparkling wine, flowers and canapés every night before dinner.

Mauritius is an exquisite emerald gem in the turquoise Indian Ocean – a true tropical paradise with beautiful palm-fringed beaches.  The island and the hotel lived up to both our expectations and we 100% recommend you visit too.
