Here Karen has picked some of her most recommended hotels for beach lovers, romantics and city lovers and has highlighted what she loves about each one.  Which one will you pick?

For beach lovers

Spice Island Beach Resort – Grenada

I’ve seen a fair few Caribbean hotels but this is by far the one that sticks in my mind as the perfect luxury Caribbean escape.

Set right on Grand Anse Beach, a 2 mile swathe of pure white sand, Spice Island‘s beachfront suites are quite literally on the beach.  There are watersports available to those who are feeling adventurous but the vibe of the hotel is pretty low key.

This 5* hotel oozes charm and sophistication.  There’s no evening entertainment, just classy background music whilst you sit and chat in the bar listing to the gentle sound of the waves lapping against the shore.

There may occasionally be a piano or harp player playing.

Yes, this all-inclusive hotel comes at a price, but oh boy, it’s worth every penny.

Constance Moofushi – Maldives

“The Maldives as you imagine it”.

Some hotels in the Maldives may not deliver on that dream picture that you have in your head of the perfect ‘Robinson Crusoe’ island.

Constance Moofushi however delivers on all aspects.  The resort has that beautiful idyllic hideaway feel but there is also plenty to do. Let’s face it, some of our other halves just can’t sit on a beach for a week and read 10 books!

This hotel is widely regarded as one of the world’s best diving spots.  Manta rays are often spotted in the 32 dive sites which are all within a half hour boat ride from the resort.

This all-inclusive property includes plenty of other activities. Just give us a ring or take a look at their website and you’ll be sold.

Go for the beach villa rather than the costly over water villas.  They are more private and what could be better than stepping out of your room into that powder white sand.

For romantics

Hotel Capo d’Orso Thalasso & Spa – Northern Sardinia

Few words can justify this hotel but I will try!

Imagine the Med in the 60’s: the first view I had of this hotel was of their beautiful wooden speed boat (you know, the boat Daniel Craig steered up the Grand Canal in Venice with Vesper in Casino Royale).

Capo d’Orso offers pure adult relaxation in a stunning setting.  The rooms are set amongst pines with secluded terraces looking out to such deep turquoise water.  Little paths lead through the trees to secluded beaches.

I had lunch with the manager; he is a charming man who made made me feel so comfortable chatting with him (some managers do not have that knack!) Even though this is 5* hotel it’s very relaxed and welcoming.  The staff just want you to have a great time.

This is a real ‘pinch me’ hotel and one that I have sold with ease.

For city lovers

Hotel Sant Francesc – Palma Old Town, Mallorca

Bang in the centre of the old town, this 5* ultra urban chic hotel is a marvellous combination of architecture, design and contemporary art.

With a stunning rooftop terrace and pool that offers panoramic views, guests experience an oasis of tranquillity and space after a busy day discovering the hidden beauty of this fascinating city.

I always smile when I think of Hotel Sant Francesc.  It brings back such lovely memories of sitting on the roof terrace watching the sun set over the ancient rooftops with cocktail in hand.  A true winner if you’re looking for a romantic long weekend away somewhere special.
