Martyn’s stay at Six Senses Kaplankaya, Turkey

Our arrival into Turkey was via Bodrum International Airport. The airport surprised me as it was so modern. Our own airports are slipping behind other countries, this may be due to sheer weight of numbers. We were met efficiently by our Six Senses Representatives and shown to our transport for the 50 minute transfer to our home for 5 nights, Six Senses Kaplankaya. I would recommend the boat transfer and if you can afford the luxury, the helicopter transfer. I wouldn’t recommend driving yourself unless you knew exactly where you were going.

On arrival we were greeted by our GEM (Guest Experience Manager) who assisted with the check in and proceeded to give us a walking tour of the hotels many features that we would enjoy over the next few days.

Our bags were taken to our rooms and we soon found ourselves reunited with them via golf buggy transport. Our GEM gave us the low down on our Sea View Ridge Villa Room with Pool and then left us having promised to make a dinner reservation for that evening.

All the rooms at this resort are spectacular but the villa with pools are amazing and affordable. Transport around the resort can be arranged by buggy by asking a member of staff or you can borrow bikes for your own use.

The resort is easily walkable; there are two beaches close to reception, one a family beach. Water sports are available including kayaking and paddle boarding. The beach has a lovely beach bar for casual lunchtime dining and a staff member will bring drinks to your sunned. Sun beds and sun shades are complimentary.

The hotel run various daily activities, some complimentary, too numerous to list but we did yoga, used the huge gym, took a cooking class and took a tour of the organic gardens with the head gardener. The majority of the vegetables served during dinner are grown on resort and the hotel has eliminated single use plastic. Water is also produced onsite, both still and sparkling, thereby eliminating the carbon footprint associated with delivery.

Whilst at Six Senses we took a tour to Didyma-Miletus and Priene. Didyma Temple is the home of Apollo’s, twin brother of Artemis. We were out for 5 hours and had a guide organised through our GEM. It was one of the highlights of our 5 days.

Six Senses Kaplankaya will live long in our memories and I would recommend it to anyone looking for that relaxing break in order to reset the senses and clear the mind of unwanted stresses.

We cann’t wait to go back. If you would like to know more about this fabulous hotel please get in touch with me via the office.
