Wish you were here – Canada’s Winter Wonderland

With the imminent opening of Canada’s borders we’re excited about this fascinating destination once more being open to British travellers.  Travellers from the UK have been missed in the 2^nd largest country in the world so expect a very warm and friendly welcome.

In the next ‘Wish you were here’ series, we visit Canada and explore what there is to do during the exciting winter months.  From the snow capped Rocky mountains and winter festivals to world class ski resorts and sleigh rides across frozen lakes, the winter season in Canada is one of the best and offers a host of experiences for all the family.

Ski Whistler

Whistler is one of North America’s largest ski resorts however nestled at the base of Whistler and Blackcomb Mountains, Whistler is not just focused on skiing and snowboarding. Dogsledding, snowmobiling, snowshoeing and sleigh rides are all on offer too.  Whistler is a great twin with Vancouver which is just a 2 hour transfer away, so we suggest spending 7 nights in Whistler either before or 2 or 3 nights in the city.

Vancouver and the Northern Lights

Taking advantage of the proximity of Vancouver again, spend time in the vibrant city before flying to Whitehorse in Yukon to experience the incredible Aurora Borealis, or Northern Lights as they are most commonly known.  You may want to also tie this in with a week in Whistler, making a longer and more varied itinerary.

Toronto and Niagara Falls

Right across on the other side of the county sits the cosmopolitan city of Toronto.  Make the most of a 2 day hop on, hop off pass to see as much as you can before heading to The incredible Niagara Falls.  Enjoy a unique view of the Horseshoe Falls also known as the Canadian Falls and one of the 3 falls on the Niagara River.

Rockies winter adventure

Winter in the Rockies is heaven for adventure seekers, not just skiers. Spend 8 nights in this incredible natural winter wonderland enjoying many activities such as Dog sledding, snowmobiling, wildlife viewing and ice walking.

Montréal and Québec City

Combine the energetic city of Montréal with Québec City for a real French-Canadian experience.  Visit the old and new centres of Montréal then travel by train to Québec City, Canada’s oldest and only walled city in North America.
